Personal Connections
Personal connections among staff and students are a critical component of safe schools. Students building connections with each other that seek to understand different lived experiences and interests leads to a positive climate. Staff building positive connections with students creates trusting relationships. Students are more likely to contribute to the success of the community when they feel “seen” and valued for their unique contributions.
Culture & Climate
School culture includes the underlying beliefs and values of school staff, caregivers, and students. These characteristics manifest in the climate of a school reflected by people's feelings and perceptions of the experience when teaching and learning in the environment.
