School Climate
A positive school climate helps students feel safe, connected, respected, and ready to learn. When students experience strong relationships, clear expectations, and a sense of belonging, they are more likely to engage in school and seek support when needed. Challenges such as bullying, exclusion, conflict, or unsafe behavior can weaken personal connections and negatively affect the way students and staff experience the school day.

Creating and Sustaining a Positive and Communal School Climate Report
"Creating and Sustaining a Positive and Communal School Climate: Contemporary Research, Present Obstacles, and Future Directions," is a report from the National Institute of Justice’s Comprehensive School Safety Initiative, looks at the impact and importance of a positive school climate on school safety.
National Center of Safe Supporting Learning Environments
The U.S. Department of Education’s National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments provided a range of resources and expertise on emotional and physical safety, bullying, cyberbullying, substance use prevention, crisis response, and building trauma-sensitive schools.
Safe and Sound Schools
Founded by parents who lost children at Sandy Hook, Safe and Sound Schools is a national non-profit school safety advocacy and resource center that provides research-based tools and support for crisis prevention, response, and recovery. Safe and Sound Schools is committed to protecting every school and every student every day.
