MCSS Data Privacy Statement

The Maryland Center for School Safety (MCSS) is dedicated to protecting the privacy, confidentiality, and security of students, educators, school staff, and community members who interact with MCSS programs and online platforms. As a public safety unit of the State of Maryland, MCSS operates under strict state and federal privacy laws and will strive to ensure that school safety remains a secure, trusted, collaborative effort.

Core Privacy Commitments

MCSS Does Not Sell Data: MCSS does not sell, rent, license, or otherwise monetize any personal records, student information, or professional credentials under any circumstances.

No Commercial Profiling: MCSS prohibits third-party vendors from repurposing state-provided data for commercial behavioral profiling, targeted advertising, or training proprietary AI models.

Data Minimization: MCSS collects the minimum amount of personal information necessary to perform official duties.

Statutory Compliance Web Publication 

In compliance with Maryland Code, State Government Article § 10-1702 (enacted under the Maryland Values Act), the Maryland Center for School Safety (MCSS) has developed and published these official procedures to prevent the sale, monetization, or harmful commercial redisclosure of any personal records or geolocation data provided to or maintained by our agency. MCSS is a public safety unit of State government and does not sell, license, rent, or otherwise commercialize any personal or student records under any circumstances.
