About School Facility Mapping Grant (SFMG)
The School Mapping Data Grant Program - also referred to as the School Facility Mapping Grant (SFMG) - was established in 2024 by Senate Bill 540 and House Bill 472 to provide funding to local school systems for the development of digital school facility maps. These digital mapping data will cover each public Prekindergarten through Grade 12 school, including public charter schools, within their jurisdiction. The purpose of this mapping data is to aid first responders and other authorized stakeholders in case of school emergencies. Data produced through this grant program must comply with the facility mapping standards developed by the Interagency Commission on School Construction under Ed. Art. §5-310.1. The FY 2026 legislative budget includes a $3.0 million appropriation to support this grant.
