Description
Hate Crimes Grant (HCG) is a competitive, state-funded reimbursement grant awarded to eligible local school systems, non-public schools, private schools, and childcare centers determined to be at risk of hate crime incidents. Below are the categories funded.

Description
The School Resource Officer Grant (SRO Grant) is a non-competitive, State-funded grant program designed for local school systems and law enforcement agencies located within the State of Maryland. The main purpose of the School Resource Officer Grant is to provide funding for School Resource Officers and adequate coverage for local school systems. To be assigned as a School Resource Officer, an individual must meet conditions as set forth in the Safe to Learn Act of 2018.

Safe Schools Fund Grant (SSFG)

Description
The Safe Schools Fund grant (SSFG) is a non-competitive, State-funded grant program designed for local school systems located within the State of Maryland. The main purpose of the Safe Schools Fund grant is to provide funding for school safety and security related matters as described under Md. Code Ann., Educ. Art. §7-1512. The grant funds are to be applied towards the cost of school safety-related projects and services..

Description
The School Safety Grant Program (SSGP) is a non-competitive, State-funded capital improvement grant program designed for local school systems located within the State of Maryland; as well as for the Maryland School for the Blind (MSB).
Established by legislation in calendar year 2018 through the enactment of HB 1783, the SSGP provides grants to fund school safety and security improvements projects. In FY2022, the Maryland Center for School Safety (MCSS) will administer the SSGP and develop administrative procedures for the grant program.

Non-Public School Grant (NPSI)

Description
The Maryland General Assembly is providing $3.5 million in fiscal year 2022 in grants for safety improvements to existing nonpublic school buildings.
Nonpublic schools currently participating in the Maryland Aid to Nonpublic Schools Program for the purchase of textbooks or computer hardware and software for loan to students, commonly known as the “Textbook and Technology Program during the 2020–2021 school year, are eligible to apply for the FY2022 Nonpublic School Safety Improvement Grant (NPSI.) Nonpublic schools that serve students with disabilities through the Nonpublic Placement Program R00A02.07 Subprogram 0762 during the 2020–2021 school year are also eligible for funding allocations for FY2022. Local school systems located within the State of Maryland; as well as non-public and private schools, and child care centers were all eligible to apply based on the type of grant selected.
Hate Crimes Grant
This grant is for non-public and private schools, child care centers as defined by Md. Code Ann., Education Art. §9.5-401, and Local School Systems which are determined to be at risk of hate crimes.

Safe Schools Fund Grant
This grant is open to both local school systems and Non-public Special Education Schools.

School Resource Officer / Adequate Coverage Grant
This grant is open to law enforcement agencies or local school systems.
Local school systems and local law enforcement agencies are encouraged to form partnerships in the form of written memorandum of understanding (MOU) between both entities in order to prevent duplicate application submissions or missing applications.
A copy of the MOU must be submitted with application documents.
