The SRO Adequate Coverage Grant is a non-competitive, State-funded grant program designed for local school systems and law enforcement agencies located within the State of Maryland. The main purpose of the SRO Adequate Coverage Grant is to provide funding for School Resource Officers, adequate coverage, and School Security Employees. To be assigned as a School Resource Officer or School Security Employee, an individual must meet the conditions as outlined in MD. Code Ann., Education Art. §7-1501(j)(k) of the Safe to Learn Act and COMAR 14.40.04.03.

Description
The Safe Schools Fund grant (SSFG) is a non-competitive, State-funded grant program designed for local school systems in Maryland. The primary purpose of the Safe Schools Fund grant is to provide funding for school safety and security-related matters as described under Md. Code Ann., Educ. Art. §7-1512. The grant funds will be applied toward the cost of school safety-related projects and services.

Description
The School Safety Grant Program (SSGP) is a non-competitive, State-funded capital improvement grant program designed for local school systems located within the State of Maryland and for the Maryland School for the Blind (MSB).
Established by legislation in calendar year 2018 through the enactment of HB 1783, the SSGP provides grants to fund school safety and security improvement projects. The Maryland Center for School Safety (MCSS), in collaboration with the Interagency Commission for School Construction (IAC), will again administer the SSGP in FY2023.

The School Safety Evaluation Grant (SSEG)

Description
T
he Maryland Center for School Safety administers the Safe Schools Fund grants outlined in Md. Code Ann., Education Art. §7-1512 of the Safe to Learn Act of 2018. For fiscal year 2024, local education agencies (LEAs) can apply for the School Safety Evaluation Grant, first made available in fiscal year 2019. Under Md. Code Ann., Education Article §7-1510, LEAs are required to conduct safety evaluations regularly to: - Identify and, if necessary, develop solutions for physical safety concerns, including issues with building security and
- Identify and evaluate any patterns of safety concerns on school property or at school-sponsored events.
Three million dollars is appropriated in FY2024 specifically for local education agencies (LEAs) to perform facility assessments; re-evaluate and update their existing safety evaluation tool, policy, or procedures; train staff on the policy, procedures, and use of the tool; acquire software for digital mapping; test out their communication and video equipment; and overall, implement a sustainable school safety evaluation plan and processes that enable the LEA to complete evaluations on all their schools on a regular basis. Each local education agency will receive a minimum of $50,000 in grant funding to complete these tasks.

Non-public School Safety Improvement Grant (NPSI)

No funding is available in FY2024, FY2025 for the Nonpublic School Security Improvement Grant.
Description
The Maryland General Assembly is providing $3.5 million in fiscal year 2023 in grants for safety improvements to existing nonpublic school buildings.
Nonpublic schools currently participating in the Maryland Aid to Nonpublic Schools Program for the purchase of textbooks or computer hardware and software for loan to students, commonly known as the “Textbook and Technology Program during the 2021–2022 school year, are eligible to apply for the FY2023 Nonpublic School Safety Improvement Grant (NPSI.) Nonpublic schools that serve students with disabilities through the Nonpublic Placement Program R00A02.07 Subprogram 0762 during the 2021–2022 school year are also eligible for funding allocations for FY2023.
